Moths of the Cloud Forest: Nightlife in Nebulosa
When the forest goes dark, thousands of wings take over the sky.

Why Moths Matter
Moths are one of the most diverse groups of animals on Earth and a vital part of the cloud-forest food web. They pollinate night-blooming plants, recycle nutrients by feeding on dead material, and provide food for birds, bats, frogs, and small mammals. Because they respond quickly to changes in climate and habitat, moth communities are also powerful indicators of ecosystem health.
How we reveal the forest’s night life
Moths of Nebulosa
Perched on the eastern slope of the Andes, Nebuloso’s permanent mist and rich plant life create perfect conditions for moths. From giant silk moths with hand-sized wings to tiny leaf-miner moths that fit on a fingertip, each species occupies a unique niche.
